Irwin Steinberg, the co-founder of Mercury Records, has died at the age of 94.
Steinberg died at his home in Vermont at the end of December, his publicist Scott Gorenstein told the Associated Press.
Steinberg graduated from the University of Chicago, the city in which he also grew up, before serving in the Air Corps for a short time.
After this, he co-founded Mercury Records, staying there for several years before spending 30 years as the chairman and CEO of Polygram Records.
Steinberg is survived by two sisters, his wife, Dominique Moyse, their three children, and four grandchildren.
