Ricky Martin has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to a false death report - although this one, which came with a fake news report, press conference and footage of the car crash that supposedly killed him, went much further than normal.
The singer, who has confirmed on Twitter that he is very much alive, was the subject of a YouTube news report which has so far been seen by over 350,000 people.

The video dubs over a US police department press conference "confirming" Martin's death, before showing a car crashing on a freeway. The accompanying text includes quotes from supposed witnesses of the crash, as well as a statement from "Sergeant Hall with the HPD accident division."
After the hoax began to gain traction, Martin posted a photo of a white sandy beach, with the caption, "Hello from #heaven."
