Kim Gordon, the bassist of Sonic Youth fame, has announced and 11-date book tour in support of her forthcoming memoir ‘Girl In A Band’.
The tour will see her participate in Q&A sessions with accomplished peers from the world of the Arts such as Aimee Mann, Elissa Schappell and Jon Wurster.
The biography is set to be published by HarperCollins and is due to be released on February 24. The book has been described as chronicling Gordon’s “choice to leave Los Angeles in the early ’80s for the post-punk scene in New York City, where she formed Sonic Youth.” A synopsis reveals: "Telling the story of her childhood, her life in art, her move to New York City, her love affairs, her marriage, her relationship with her daughter, and her band, this is a rich and beautifully written memoir. At the heart of the book is the examination of what partnership means – and what happens when it dissolves."
Fans will of course be interested to hear about the formation of Sonic Youth and how the band eventually became one of the most influential rock groups in the world but of course, many are excited by Gordon telling the story of the dissolution of both her personal and professional relationship with bandmate Thurston Moore.
Currently, there is no word as to whether or not Gordon will appear in the UK to promote her book.
