Clean Bandit have responded to criticism from Serge Pizzorno regarding their Brit Awards nomination.
Pizzorno complained about the absence of Kasabian from the Brit Awards and singled out Clean Bandit's nomination as an "outrage" as the group "don't even write their own tunes."
Clean Bandit's Grace Chatto has responded to Pizzorno in The Mirror. "It's so weird and odd," she explained. "We do write our own music. It's just so funny that he would say that. Maybe he just assumed that because we've had this hit with 'Rather Be' it's the sort of pop that has millions of writers behind. But we didn't. I think it was about us being nominated in the best band category. It was a surprise for us – maybe it wasn't a nice surprise for them."
Chatto went on to attribute Pizzorno's comments to envy. "Maybe it's jealousy. I don't really care. I don't know a lot of Kasabian's music. I am into rock music but I don't know their stuff."
Clean Bandit aren't the only ones who are unconvinced by Pizzorno's recent complaint about Kasabian not getting recognised. "I heard that on the radio, I flew into a fucking rage," Sleaford Mods Jason Williamson tells Gigwise. "It really pissed me off, y'know, all these c***ts playing the working class card. You know 'Oh, what kind of example is this setting to the working class kids if we're not on that fucking show?' Really? They said goodbye to their roots a long time ago. Fuck off."
The Brit Awards take place on 25 February where Clean Bandit are nominated in two categories. Clean Bandit's full tour dates are below. For tickets and more info, click here.
