It's probably fair to say that last night's Grammys belonged to Sam Smith. The singer won four awards, and performed alongside Mary J. Blige. Watch the performance below.
The British singer went into the awards with a whopping six nominations, and went home with four awards - Best Pop Vocal Album, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best New Artist. On stage collecting his Record Of The Year award he also thanked his ex for inspiring the songs. "I want to thank the man this record is about... for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys." Naturally online there was much comparison to Adele's 2012 speech along similar lines - but Adele doesn't have the monopoly on heartbreak.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet Smith also revealed how much more comfortable he has become as a person. "The minute I didn't care about the way I looked and started saying how I felt, was when the music started to hit"
During the ceremony Smith performed 'Stay With Me' alongside Mary J. Blige, as well as a full orchestra and choir.

Speaking to Gigwise last year, Smith said, "I really do have faith that people want to hear what I have to say about anything, and it's about my vocal as well. I've made the promise to myself that my music will be the documentary of my life, so whatever happens next will be written about."
