Madonna has expressed her concerns over the "climate of fear" throughout Europe, comparing the level of anti-Semitism to 'Nazi Germany'.
The pop icon, fresh from her eventful performance and cape trip at the BRIT Awards, was speaking to French radio station Europe 1, when she said she believed that “anti-Semitism is at an all-time high” in France and that Europe "feels like Nazi Germany".
“We’re living in crazy times,” she said, reports The Guardian. “It was a country that embraced everyone and encouraged freedom in every way, shape or form – artistic expression of freedom. Now that’s completely gone."
She continued: “France was once a country that accepted people of colour, and was a place artists escaped to, whether it was Josephine Baker or Charlie Parker.”
Meanwhile, Madonna is set to appear on The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV tomorrow (Saturday 28 February, 2015) alongside Kanye West. She releases her new album Rebel Heart on 6 March and is expected to announce world tour dates any day now.
