Zane Lowe has given an exit interview regarding the news that he will be leaving the BBC to move to LA to work for Apple.
Speaking to the Guardian, Lowe reveals that although he has been hugely inspired by working at the BBC over the past 12 years, he believes that Apple will give him a greater exposure than ever before.
“It’s about being able to get great music to an audience on a global level," said Lowe. "I know that there is an opportunity to come out here and to build something that will reach parts of the world that I’ve never reached before."
Lowe also discusses his hopes for the new move, including bringing a sense of record store community that he believes is missing in the digital age. “I really want a platform for the most passionate people who love music,” he says. “I want to be able to bring that human experience, that we all had growing up with record stores, but actually make it something you can listen to in a world where you’re left to your own devices.”

As previously reported Annie Mac will be the new host of Radio 1’s weekday evening new music show, starting on Monday 9 March. Lowe's last show will be on Thursday 5 March. Lowe said in a statement: “I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 - for their support and friendship. The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country's best music fans - I've loved every minute of it. Exciting times lie ahead.”
