Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno has taken aim at Ed Sheeran in a new interview, saying, "It's a good time for squares."
Pizzorno decided to follow in the recent footsteps of Noel Gallagher, who last month declared that he couldn't live in a world in which Ed Sheeran could headline Wembley Stadium. The always good-humoured Sheeran responded by tweeting, "I can live in it. It's really enjoyable."
Pizzorno has now spoken to The Sun of Ed Sheeran's Brit Award nomination: "It's a good time for squares. We're going through a period where the squares are in charge. There's no surrealists, there's no fantasy in music. The squares are having their day."
He continued, "But I can foresee it coming to an end. There's only so long people will take it before they get bored. There's no danger any more. People aren't offering anything exciting. The squares are winning." Thank God for the exciting and dangerous music of Kasabian.
He also said of the band's omittance from the Brit nomination, "I don't want us to be put in the same Best British Group category as Clean Bandit and One Direction. There's way more politics behind this than people realise. There's some strange names in there. I hope some of those people enjoy their night because it's the only time they'll be there."
The Brit Awards take place on 25 February 2015. Kasabian are not nominated for any awards.
