of Montreal have just released the video for their track ‘Bassem Sabry’, which appears on their brand new album, Aureate Gloom, which is out now.
For of Montreal fans, this video might not appear to be all that strange. After all, this comes from the same guy who once rode onto stage on a live horse. Either way, it’s still pretty bizarre, full of face paint, weird masks, wine, bathtub fights, puppies and a bit of nudity. And you can see it all below.

The video was directed by Ben Rouse and was mostly filmed on Super 8 film. “I tend to peg myself as a photographer, so in many ways this project was a really beautiful boot camp into an entirely new medium,” Rouse told Noisey. “It's my first music video…so it was a massive learning experience and chance to make something exciting and meaningful with our friends. I felt very inspired by Věra Chytilová’s Daisies, Stan Brakhage’s Mothlight, and Jean Cocteau’s Le Sang d'un Poète.”
