Johnny Marr has announced that he will finally publish his autobiography, which will hit shelves three years after Morrissey offered his thoughts on the end of The Smiths in print.
In a release from publishers Century, Marr says of the announcement: “For the past few years as I’ve been out on tour promoting my solo work fans and journalists have been asking me when I’ll write my book. I’m very happy to say that the time has come to tell my story.”
Century Publishing Director, Ben Dunn said: “It’s the book Smiths fans have been waiting their whole lives and the early material that Johnny has written is utterly breath-taking. I’m delighted that Johnny has chosen Century to be his publisher.”
The book will be published in Autumn 2016.
Literary matters aside, Marr also recently announced he will releasing a 7" single for Record Store Day featuring a cover of Depeche Mode's 'I Feel You', backed by a live version of 'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' recorded at the Manchester Apollo back in October.
The video, directed by David Barnes, is a beautiful but simple performance clip in a dark room - emphasising the stark post-punk interpretation of the track.
