James Blake's ill-fated 1-800 Dinosaur UK ends in disarray after the London tour date never took place.
As DIY points out, Blake had planned to bring the tour - featuring Trim, Dan Float, Klaus, Mr Assister and, supposedly, Frank Ocean (under his 'Boysdontcry' alias) - to the capital this weekend. However, no such event took place, with a complete absence of any social media updates on the status of the event, despite fans' frustration.
As previously reported, four days ago Blake posted news that "To be frank we are announcing BOYSDONTCRY to the line up for the 1-800 Road Trip - kicking off in Bristol this evening at Lakota." After the story went viral, Blake made the crucial clarification on Facebook: "As previously said earlier today, Frank and I are not performing live or on tour - we're on a 1-800 DINOSAUR road trip, putting on club nights and documenting the weekend for the BoysDontCry Magazine. Blog that, as that's the correct information."
The initial night in Bristol proved to be a disappointment to those attending. Vice have confirmed that while Frank Ocean was technically in the venue, he wasn't taking part in the show. "The best I can say is that Frank Ocean was there, somewhere, in the vicinity, but he never touched a CDJ never mind a microphone. He just hung around at the back for three hours, and as disappointment become gradually inevitable things started to get a little sad and ugly."
Ocean was definitely present for the event at the Manchester Roundhouse the following night but once again didn't perform in any capacity. Instagram users captured the avant garde R&B star hanging out side of stage.
James Blake is reported releasing an album later this month called Radio Silence although no further details have been releasd. Blake's next UK date is now scheduled for The Parklife Weekender 2015 in Manchester. For tickets and more information visit here.
