More about:

Ezra Furman's ability to capture a crowd through song, wit and stage presence is rather wondrous. Through a cavalcade of tunes picked carefully from her vast and varied back catalogue, her headline show at London's Roundhouse feels like an affair that rings a bell of achievement. As Furman discussed with Gigwise recently, the quiet charm and melodic mind that shone throughout her interview are once again in full swing.

Furman is a blend of Blondie's groove and Lou Reed's striking honesty, displaying the New York cool of the 1970s. Over the past decade, she has come far, unafraid to embrace the chaos of the self. Furman is responsible for the soundtrack to the Netflix show Sex Education and has worked tirelessly and astutely to earn a reputation for righteous musical dexterity.

In the soaring 'Train Comes Through', which opens 2022's terrific album All Of Us Flames, adoration pours from the crowd. It is heartwarming to witness an audience so enamoured with Furman's staunch self-acceptance, dressed in bold outfits bursting with jovial expression, all those in attendance are smitten with the rakish ambience. What sets Furman apart from her contemporaries is the prowess of confidence that seeps from each lyric. From the raw power of Trauma to the catchy 'I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend' it's a fine display of her knack for pulling the heartstrings.

Allowing herself to bask in the glory of the evening fully, Furman sashays through a twenty-one-song strong setlist packed with hits, deep cuts & a trove of surprises. Topping things off with a cover of the Patti Smith staple 'Because The Night', the night is a fine example of the one-of-a-kind artist she is.
