A band at the top of their game, mastering every reincarnation they offer, the Arctic Monkeys have today unveiled new single 'R U Mine'.
A howling, swaggering track 'R U Mine' is a love lust croon which sees the Arctic Monkeys take a more straight rock n roll, upbeat route than their previous tracks. Kicking off with a thumping drum intro and a dangerously waving guitar riff, the song screams of sex. “Satisfaction seems like a distant memory, I can't help myself, all I want to hear you say is 'Are you mine?” howls and screeches in reference to a slippery love interest. A high pitched harmony and guitar licks accompany Turner's proposal of love infatuation.
Since his split with international it-girl Alexa Chung, Turner has been connected with a new love interest Arielle Vandenberg, which if 'R U Mine' is to be taken seriously, is giving him the run about despite appearing in the video.
Moving forward with their sound the Arctic Monkeys seem to have a taken a leaf out of the garage rock book of their current touring buddies, The Black Keys, who they are supporting on the American leg of their tour. Less brooding and moody, 'R U Mine' hears the Arctic Monkeys get heavier and scuzzier with unfulfilled passion.
The accompanying video shows the band playing around in a car, again, with Alex Turner showcasing his prowl as a front man. Air guitar and drums included, the offering features the expected girls in masquerade masks and a live performance at the end.
Debuted on Californian radio station KRQO, the single is not on the track-listing for their most current album 'Suck It And See' which was released last year. The band have also not unveiled any plans for its release or a new record alongside the track which appeared online today.
The Arctic Monkeys are also playing this years Coachella Music Festival in Los Angeles.
