British shoegazers Air Formation have revealed 'The Wasted Days', their first single since secretly reforming. Listen to it first on Gigwise below.
Inspired by the likes of Spacemen 3, The Jesus And Mary Chain and Flying Saucer Attack, Air Formation formed in 1998 (though issues over their name meant they weren't called Air Formation until 2000). They went on to release four albums, establishing themselves as key members of the shoegazing scene.
After splitting in 2011, the band have now reformed and are set to release a brand new EP, Were We Ever Here. Loosely based around the music they were working on before their split, the band put the finishing touches on the EP before they announced that they had reformed.
"We thought it would be a more exciting organic experience," they explained, "if we just got on with it unannounced and released it as fast as we could."
The first song from the EP, 'The Wasted Days', is somehow both languid and urgent, sprawling and tightly-structured, and perfectly demonstrates the band's ability to remain both ahead of, and apart from, the zeitgeist.

Air Formation's new EP, We Were Ever Here, is set to be released on 25 September, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their first release for Club AC30.
