The Chemical Brothers' new album, Born In The Echoes, is finally upon us - and we've got three signed copies of the vinyl to give away.
In the five years since the release of Further, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons gradually pieced together, within the confines of a dark room in a secluded house, the tracks that would eventually comprise their eighth album.
"At the moment, it feels like a lot of the groove has gone from dance music," says Tom Rowlands. "Like James Brown has been removed. Everything can sound pumped-up and awesome and strong – it’s like an arms race now. Those approaches have nothing to do with the sweat and the intensity and the mess that’s always excited me."
"There’s lots of great electronic music being made," adds Simons, "but there’s definitely a lot that sounds quite functional. There was a time when strange things happened in dance music – that’s what we wanted to get across. Not a strangeness that’s antagonistic; a strangeness that’s beguiling and pulls you in."
The result of the duo's frustration with the "arms race" of modern music was Born In The Echoes - and you can get your hands on one of two vinyl copies, signed by Ed and Tom, by answering the question below.
Born In The Echoes is out on Friday 24 July. You can order the album on iTunes here.
