More about:

This Saturday sees the return of Neighbourhood Festival to the streets of Manchester. With a jam-packed line-up, navigating your way around who to see could be seen as a chore, but fear not, Gigwise have you covered.

We’ve essentially curated a ‘must-see’ list for you, by those booked to play!

Find out the hottest acts playing over the weekend, picked by some of Gigwise’s favourite artists - including Talk Show, Phoebe Green, Sinead O’Brien and Alfie Templeman - below:

Phoebe Green picks…

Porridge Radio

I gigged with these a few months ago and was absolutely blown away by their performance, the emotion and the bluntness of the lyrics really got me, loved every second.

Mealtime

They’re a really fun feel-good band that get you bopping, really hope I get the chance to see these!

The Goa Express

My pals in Goa know how to get a room moving, they’re another exciting new band with retro influences that I’m dead into.

Witch Fever

Witch Fever are a band I’m always raving about, they’re dead good mates of mine and I’ve always been so, so inspired by the effect they have on a room. They get you angry and excited and emotional all at the same time, it’s proper addictive.

Talk Show pick…

Walt Disco

We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Walt Disco a few times now and they’re always fantastic. They’ve got great tunes, great haircuts and an intense live set. Don’t invite them round for Fifa though, they’re insanely competitive.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard

Last time we saw Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard was one of the highlights of our weekend. Sheer rock & roll presence pumped full of charisma and joy.

Sinead O’Brien

We’ve been really digging Sinead O’Brien’s releases and often have her on in the car. A thoughtful mix of poetry and music, her delivery is made for performance so we can’t wait to check it out!

Do Nothing

Do Nothing are just so fucking decent. We’ve seen them a few times and they headlined our last Cultural Treason night we put on. Intricate instrumental grooves pump underneath a joyfully cynical stream of spoken word. Don’t miss ‘em you won’t be disappointed.

Sinead O'Brien picks…

Sports Team

Their live show is intriguing to me, so unpredictable. The band's energy goes from the ground up into full capacity in fractions of a second but with such control. A really exciting band to see live.

Egyptian Blue

They have such a raw energy, I think they are a very exciting band, they sound so much of the 'now'.

Phoebe Green

Phoebe Green (Chess Club family!) is one of the most unique voices I've come across. Watch her blooming, it's an incredibly fresh and individual sound. She's a strong female with a very sincere voice who has something to say.

Fat White Family

I listen to these because I shouldn't. But I want to. So much. 'I Believe In Something Better' is religious. Like a punch to the guts, Fat White Family are a necessary evil - I love their music.

Alfie Templeman picks…

Bloxx

I’m right into a funky bass jam, met with fat distorted guitars and a huge chorus, like on ‘Go Out Without You’. Now that’s what I like in a song!

Far Caspian

I have a thing for really tight chorus tracks, like on ‘Conversations’. I love how the drum machine effect marries perfectly with those acoustic drums.

Oscar Lang

‘Change’ has such a blissful & vintage winter-time feel to it. It’s so warm and smooth and Oscars sincere vocals work beautifully with the floaty chorus.
