More about: The Great Escape Festival
The Great Escape Conference enables those with delegate passes to keep themselves up to date with the latest trends and developments in the industry, and the vital foresight that is so necessary to grasp onto that crucial relevancy in the ever-evolving business of music.
Today, TGE have announced the themes that they will base discussions and panels around throughout the weekend of musical discovery and education. One key theme will be focussed on each day, allowing delegates to debate and share their insight about the big trends in music, so that everyone can benefit from this collective fountain of knowledge, with a view to pushing collective innovation in music. This ‘theme-a-day’ structure is unusual in the world of music conferences, and enables attendees to delve deep into the themes with unrivalled detail.
On Wednesday 13 May, the day will focus on how to support artists early on in their careers, and how to champion future talent. Hearing insights from the likes of music educators, music industry employees and the general music community, the day will also be supported by the ‘Pathways Into Music’ book from CMU - TGE will be the first time that the book will be presented in full, with teasers of chapters being published in the months running up to the event,
On Thursday 14 May, themes will be very media-focussed; speakers will analyse and provide insight into how music utilises newer forms of media promotion, such as podcasts, social media, sync and media partnerships. Ultimately, the key question is to ask who is influencing your fanbase?
Friday 15 May will see the UK music industry zoom out and focus on other key global music markets, debating the developments, challenges and opportunities they present. Key markets include India, China, Brazil, Nigeria and South Korea.
What’s more, today TGE have announced that South Korea is the lead country partner - last year TGE partnered up with Australia to bring some of the most exciting Aussie bands over the pond to grace the seaside stages. South Korea will be involved heavily in the conference element of the festival, as well as acts from the country appearing in the festival’s lineup. South Korean artist Balming Tiger has been confirmed to play: a self-proclaimed ‘alternative multi-national k-pop band’, who will make their debut at The Great Escape Festival next year.
Delegate passes are on sale now.
