The frantic psych-trip is a more traditional rock jaunt for the Aussies

Mushrooms out for Perth’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets who plunge us once again into their mad world with new single ‘Mundungus’. The first release since their 2019 album And Now For The Whatchamacallit, the new song is a darker, rockier take on the Crumpets’ psych-madness.

There’s a Strokes-esque storytelling angle in the delivery of lyrics that focus on “the rare post tour recovery period,” though there’s still a few finger-bleeding sections of bacchanal guitar in there for the psych nerds!

Released on the appropriately-titled What Reality? records, the word ‘Mundungus’ reportedly refers not only, dear readers, to the Harry Potter character Mundungus Fletcher, but to the foul smell of a whiffy tobacco.

As frontman Jack McEwan explains: “[post tour] our surrounding friends and family assume we’re crippled with alcoholism, burdened with lives of social estrangement and are too disillusioned to foresee our self destructive tendencies.”

Looking forward to the next tour no doubt! Here’s the places they’ll be hitting:
