Continuing a collection of covers from the This Feeling community
GIGWISE
17:00 13th May 2020

Walking into a This Feeling club night, you know exactly what to expect. But aside from energetic live shows and the whiff of Red Stripe, the solidarity that unites everyone involved is perhaps the most poignant piece of the This Feeling puzzle.

With no live shows this Spring due to COVID-19, Gigwise is bringing you a collection of covers from the bands who were meant to be performing for TF over the coming months.

Harnessing their sense of community spirit, founder Mikey Jonns says of the collaborative project: “All these bands were due to play for us this Spring in grassroots venues and whilst clearly that's not happened, it hasn't stopped This Feeling band’s sense of community and spirit, as well as supporting the venues they were due to play (almost all are under threat). Stay at home, get in the zone and if you can please help save the UK's grassroots circuit by chipping in whatever you can. Mikey X”

Today it’s the turn of The K’s and Andrew Cushin.

Gigwise: Tell us about the band you're covering…

The K’s: Andrew Cushin. He’s ace, supported on our last tour. Great lad and great artist.

G: How has coronavirus impacted your plans?

TK: Literally couldn’t have been worse, all our releases cancelled, our first main stages at major festivals all summer have been cancelled, and I can’t even go fucking Benidorm in between.

G: How have you adapted to the situation?

TK: It’s hitting us hard, we’ve got some top new stuff written tho. We usually just write and record ideas at home then get pissed together on a Friday on our live streams.

G: What’s your best This Feeling memory?

TK: Probably Isle of Wight. What a festival, crowd was mint and all.

G: What does 'The Zone' mean to you?

TK: Means a sore head the next day, but worth every headache.

And over to Andrew Cushin...

Gigwise: Tell us about the band you're covering…

Andrew Cushin: I’m covering a band called The K’s. I became a fan after seeing them on Soccer AM, two weeks later I was in Leeds gigging with them. Strange fucking world.

G: How has coronavirus impacted your plans?

AC: Immensely. I’ve had a massive amount of festivals and big gigs cancelled or postponed.

G: How have you adapted to the situation?

AC: Rehearsals are a piece of piss for me as I’m on me own, I’ve been making a lot of demos and scouting future band members for a three piece, I’ve got a few lads in mind.

G: What’s your best This Feeling memory?

AC: Big In 2020 in Leeds. The reception I got was amazing. Meeting The Lathums was sound as well. Good lads them like.

G: What does 'The Zone' mean to you?

AC: Playing a belting show, coming off stage and just going for it. Living for the night. Drinking everything that’s there, music blasting and being in class company.
