M.I.A has dropped a new demo on the internet, a track called ‘Platforms’, following new song ‘CanSeeCanDo’ released online a few months ago.

The Sri Lankan superstar stays true to form and preaches about power, politics, (and emojis) on the introspective track.

M.I.A drummed up interest among fans on social media platforms, announcing the upload on Twitter and posting a video of herself singing along to the track on Instagram.

She sings: “Platforms here’s a train of thought / Getting to the bright side of me is why I fought / I’m gonna say what else have I got / Maybe there’s glory in all the things I’m not.”

M.I.A released another song onto the internet back in March, ‘CanSeeCanDo’, the first music she had released since 2013’s Matangi.

Discussing uploads is becoming a bit of a habit. In March she originally tweeted to say that she would be releasing a song called 'All My People', but eventually decided upon 'Can See Can Do' instead, saying: “Actually I want to release ‘All My People’ when all my people are ready.”

M.I.A’s personal life has also been in the spotlight recently, after she and her ex Diplo both discussed their relationship, and bizarre fights, with the press.

M.I.A told Rolling Stone: “[Diplo] literally smashed my hotel room and broke all the furniture because he was so angry I got picked up by a major label and it was the corniest thing in the world that could possibly happen… And then Missy Elliott called me for the first time… I’m sure we had a massive fight about that”

Diplo told Billboard in response: “Nothing she said is a lie. I was really jealous and sad, and probably mad when she signed to a major label…I probably made mistakes in our relationship, but we made awesome music. Every time we had a fight, we made good music after.”
