Rufas Taylor, son of the legendary Queen drummer, Roger Taylor, is joining The Darkness.
Guitarist Dan Hawkins confirmed the replacement in an interview with Real Radio XS. He said: "We already have someone, and we actually played our first show with him last night. The 'drummist' will be known as Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor."
Taylor has already begun gigging with the band, and appeared at a London release party for upcoming album, Last Of Our Kind, last month.
, he of high tenor and tight catsuits, uploaded a clip of Taylor rehearsing with the band on Instagram yesterday, cementing the addition of rock royalty to the band’s line up.
The news comes after the band announced last month that previous drummer, Emily Dolan Davies, was leaving the band.
Earlier this year The Darkness announced the release of fourth album Last Of Our Kind, out in June. The band have so far released two tracks online, 'Barbarian' and 'Open Fire'.

Describing 'Barbarian', Justin Hawkins said: "Not one but two dramatic monologues, a guitar solo that has been declared 'irresponsible', a riff that weakens lady-knees and a chorus that makes grown men shit directly into their pants...The lyrics describe the Viking invasion of East Anglia which culminated in the decapitation of Edmund the Martyr. So yeah, classic Darkness.”
The new album follows on from 2012's Hot Cakes.
Hawkins also recently co-wrote a song on Weezer's latest album, and was selling his old catsuits on Ebay last year.
