The new track from A$AP Rocky features Rod Stewart, in the form of a sample from ‘In a Broken Dream’.

The 1970s song was originally released by Australian rock band Python Lee Jackson, with Stewart singing guest vocals on the track. So a guest vocalist on one track has now been sampled for another. Meta much?

The new Rocky release, ‘Everyday’, also features singer and producer, Miguel, as well as current chart darling, Mark Ronson.

Stewart kicks of the track with his instantly recognisable voice: “Every day I spend my time drinking wine feelin’ fine, waiting here to find the sign that I can understand, yes I am.”

The 70s rocker is then echoed by a soulful Miguel, and the track kicks in with a drop. Stewart’s idiosyncratic raspy vocal, scattered throughout, is easily identified, but, far from sounding out of place, it lends a wistful depth to the track.

Almost exactly a month ago, Rocky released another track ‘M’$’ at a Red Bull Music Academy lecture in London in April, where he discussed his up-coming album, a follow-up to his 2013 debut, Long.Live.A$AP.

He confirmed that At.Long.Last.A$AP, produced by Danger Mouse and the late A$AP Yams, will feature Mos Def. It is also dedicated to Yams, a fellow A$AP Mob member, who died of an accidental drug overdose in January this year.

He said however that Lykke Li and FKA Twigs, who were previously linked to the album, will not feature.

Rocky has also claimed that his record will not have any singles on it, telling NME recently: “I’ll do what the fuck I want. That’s the only way to do it.

“I’d be confused if I tried to fit in. I’m an innovator.”

Along with releasing ‘Everyday’ at another Red Bull Music Academy talk, Rocky confirmed the release date of the album as 2 June, pushed back from its original release of 2 May.
