Brandon Flowers has said he feels his current solo album The Desired Effect should have been The Killers' second record Sam's Town.
Flowers released his second solo LP The Desired Effect this week which followed 2010's Flamingo and The Killers' 2012 album Battle Born. In a new interview with BBC, Flowers said his fans have been eagerly awaiting the singer's plunge into pop-based music which the new LP entails with production from Ariel Rechtshaid and guest vocals from The Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant and Danielle of Haim.
The singer explained: "when I started doing interviews, I realised I'd made The Killers' second record...I mean, I made what we were supposed to do on our second album, but we never gave anybody that pleasure. We threw everyone a little bit with Sam's Town."
Upon straying from being viewed as a popstar Flowers said, "sometimes you want to be more macho and you want the word 'rock' next to your name. But I'm not ashamed of it or anything. I love pop music. And I definitely have a knack for it."
