Jake Bugg and James Bay are announced as the latest additions to the Nordoff Robins O2 Silver Clef Awards 2015 and will join the likes of Mark Ronson, Primal Scream and Rita Ora.
The awards are in its 40th year, and after announcing already established winners such as Iron Maiden and Primal Scream, they have turned their focus to the newcomers welcoming Jake Bugg and James Bay to the impressive list of names already totted up in the award's 40 year history. All artists will collect their awards at the O2 Silver Clef Lunch held on 3 July at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.
On being crowned Best Newcomer by Nordoff Robins, Bay expressed his gratitude: "2015 has been such an incredible year for me so far. It is such an honour to be recognised by a charity which is so important to the music industry. Nordoff Robbins do incredible work helping to transform lives with music therapy.”
Whereas Jake Bugg came up top in the Best Male category, Bugg said: “It’s an honour to be recognized by the country’s leading music therapy charity and to join an incredible list of artists who have won O2 Silver Clef Awards over the last 40 years. I am really looking forward to collecting my award at the event in July and finding out more about Nordoff Robbins.”
Nordoff Robbins CEO Julie Whelan offered her thanks to the industry, “It is because of events like the O2 Silver Clef Awards that Nordoff Robbins is able to continue to deliver essential music therapy services to vulnerable and isolated people across the UK. Since 1976, the event has brought together artists from all areas of the music industry, raising an incredible £8.5 million in the process.”
The awards have previously awarded Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Pharrell Williams.
James Bay will be playing at a number of festivals over the summer including V Festival and BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend before embarking on a UK tour throughout September and October. For tickets and more information, click here.
