Jack White has opened about the breakdown of his relationship with former White Stripes bandmate Meg, and about the potential of quitting music for good.
White was speaking to fans in an online Q&A on his own website, when quizzed on the subject of the former White Stripes' drummer.
"She (Meg) doesn't answer her phone," he said, before asked if he would perform with her again and replying: "nope, that time is gone."
When asked if he would reform to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, he said "doubt it, and doubt it."
The most worrying point of the session came when asked “What is something we might not know about you?" when he replied: "that I don’t belong here, and most of the time [it’s] torture trying to find reasons to stay.”
That may well have something to do with his dislike for touring. "I'd say half the shows I play I’d rather not play," said White. "Festivals for example. But I have to make the best of it and try to get inspired."
He continued: "It's hard when the people who organize festivals basically control my life. I have to book shows around their offer that i can't refuse. It's very expensive to tour, people think that’s how musicians make their money these days sadly, but it’s hard to on the road no matter what size you are … only seated theaters for acoustic shows for the rest of my days."
"Sometimes creating in a closet and never releasing it has it’s advantages."
It comes as no surprise then that White recently revealed that he'll be “taking a break from performing live for a long period of time”.
