A lawyer for BB King has dismissed claims that he was poisoned, after his daughters Karen Williams and Patty King, allege that family members were prevented from comforting him.

As Billboard reports, the attorney for King's estate, Brent Bryson, has stated that these allegations were "ridiculous". Three doctors have stated that King was properly cared for, receiving 24 hour care and closely monitored.

King died in his sleep at his Las Vegas home on 14 May, aged 89 but his daughters are adamant that his death was hastened by business manager LaVerne Toney and personal assistant Myron Johnson. They believe their "father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances and feel strongly that their "father was murdered."

In King's will Toney is named executor of an estate and he could inherit tens of millions of dollars. Both Toney and Johnson each declined to comment on the accusations.

Police issued a statement on Monday saying that there is no active homicide investigation, and there is no immediate evidence that supports the murder allegations.

Williams, Patty King and another daughter Rita Washington have vowed to keep fighting. Williams said , "We lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war."

She alleged that Toney hastened King's death by "misconduct, or by failing to properly attend to his medical needs".

Bryson called Drohobyczer's claims "ridiculous" and "disrespectful".

"He did not want invasive medical procedures. He made the decision to return home for hospice care instead of staying in a hospital. These unfounded allegations have caused Mr. King to undergo an autopsy, which is exactly what he didn't want."

"I hope they have a factual basis that they can demonstrate for their defamatory and libelous allegations."

The autopsy was performed on Sunday but the test results will take up to eight weeks to obtain.

King, the incredibly influential guitar hero who was best known for his blues hits 'My Lucille', 'Sweet Little Angel' and 'Rock Me Baby' has been suffering recent health scares relating to high blood pressure and diabetes.

His career kicked off in 1951 where one of his first releases reached the top of the rhythm & blues charts, he created a unique sound by chanelling the influence of country blues and big-city music. He started touring after his success and never stopped which saw him continue right up until October last year. His six-decade career saw him collaborating with some of the world's biggest artists including Eric Clapton and U2.
