American dream-pop outfit Beach House have announced all the details of their expected fifth studio album 'Depression Cherry' which has been set to release on the 28 August.
The band describe the record as "a return to simplicity" which for them means melody taking a more prominent role in the tracks, less instruments, and less emphasis on live drumming.
The band place this change in direction on their growing success, saying large venues encouraged them into making a louder, more aggressive sound, whereas now they'd like to explore a return to their "natural tendencies" in an effort to ignore the commerciality which they believe has begun to plague their work.
The title Depression Cherry is an allusion to the feeling the band are trying to encapsulate in the fifth time around; "It's a colour, a place, a feeling, an energy… that describes the place you arrive as you move through the endlessly varied trips of existence."
