Paul McCartney was asked to star in the hit TV show Friends as Ross Geller's father-in-law, a recent interview reveals.
The fomer Beatle was apparently sought after back in 1998 to star as the father of British love-interest Emily Waltham, who Ross Geller marries in the show's fourth season. This was revealed by the casting director of the show, Leslie Litt, who says she contacted his manager in order with all the details.
"One day, someone in the office brought me a faxed letter written to me by Paul himself!" Litt told Huffington Post in a recent interview. Unfortunately there seemed to be a clash of timetables and McCartney was very flattered, but wrote to politely decline the role. Instead, the part was played by Scottish actor Tom Conti.
With his recent work with Kanye West, McCartney is known for taking on plenty of unlikely sounding collaborations, but this was one that regrettably passed the star by.
McCartney recently played two consecutive nights at The O2, including one performance where Dave Grohl appeared on stage. The pair performed Please Please Me track ' I Saw Her Standing There', with Grohl contributing vocals and guitar.
