Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes has apologised for comments he made, suggesting that the Paris terror attacks during their gig at The Bataclan last year was an inside job.
ISIS terrorists struck their Paris show on 13 November 2015, killing 90 of their fans and crew.
Hughes made headlines this week when he controversially suggested that absent security at the Bataclan 'had a reason not to show up' and were part of the attacks. The venue then responded, slamming Hughes' comments as 'insane and defamatory'.
Now, Hughes has issued an official statement to clarify his views, apologise, and reveal that his comments were made under the stress of coping with the trauma.
“I humbly beg forgiveness from the people of France, the staff and security of the Bataclan, my fans, family, friends and anyone else hurt or offended by the absurd accusations I made,” Hughes said. “My suggestions that anyone affiliated with the Bataclan played a role in the events of 13 November are unfounded and baseless – and I take full responsibility for them.
He continued: "I’ve been dealing with non-stop nightmares and struggling through therapy to make sense of this tragedy and insanity. I haven’t been myself since 13 November."
