Devo's Jerry Casale has come under fire after a photo of him and his wife standing next to a 9/11 themed wedding cake was leaked on the internet.
The co-founder of the new wave band married Krista Napp last Friday (11 September) - the 14th anniversary of the tragic attack on the World Trade Center's Two Towers that killed 2,977 people.
At the California wedding, the Devo bassist also reportedly gave his guests Stanley knives as gifts, the same knives used by the terrorists who hijacked the planes used to make the attacks.
The photo of the newly married couple standing next to the abhorrent cake was obtained by TMZ and can be viewed below via Stereogum.

However, since then, Casale has spoken out against the incident apologising and claiming that the incident was a set up. Casale suggested that the cake was not the work of the newly weds but a misjudged surprise from a friend.
Speaking to Billboard, Casale has said that the cake was a response to a poor joke regarding a comment he made about the date of the wedding, saying that he and Napp "are Twin Towers of love".
"He thought it was some sort of transgressive sick humour, and the problem is, it’s not funny," Casale said of his friend.
Deep apologies for all offended. There is a real explanation and its not what you think. Surprise cake and pix to TMZ was a set up. TBC...
