After a petition to ban Kanye West from recording a David Bowie tribute album gained over 20,000 signatures, someone has set up a counter-petition - calling for Kanye to "do whatever he wants all the time."
The rapper has been the subject of a number of high-profile petitions over the past few years. Last year, one calling for his headline slot at Glastonbury to be cancelled and replaced by a "rock band" was signed by 136,000 people.
Then, when reports broke that West has been in the studio recording covers of Bowie classics, a Bowie fan set up a petition to "stop Kanye West recording covers of David Bowie songs." At the time of writing, it's had 20,756 signatures.
Though the reports that this Bowie tribute album is even happening have since been brought into serious question, the petition's popularity has irked plenty of people, who feel the levels of vitriol aimed at West are hugely disproportionate and problematic.
Its description reads, "We call on Kanye West, the incredible musician and endlessly exciting human, to keep doing whatever the fuck he wants for as long as he wants. This will lead to racist white people having headaches and everybody else having a great time."
