Chris Cornell has played a stunning cover of Prince’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’. Watch and listen below.
The Soundgarden frontman has been covering Prince’s iconic track at a number of gigs in support of his latest solo album, Higher Truth, embarking on an extensive North American acoustic tour.
We forgive you if you weren't aware that Prince wrote this unforgettable number. Fifteen years after its original release and following a few tweaks over Chris Cornell's tour, he decided he was ready to share it with the masses via the radio waves.
Backed by a cellist and a second acoustic guitarist on SiriusXM’s Artist Confidential series, Cornell performed a haunting rendition of the song with some beautiful vocals. We have a suspicion that Sinead O’Connor has been left shaking in her boots after Cornell gave her a run for her money in the ongoing best Prince covers competition.

Cornell recently spoke about the possibility of an Audioslave reunion, explaining that he thought very highly of the band's chemistry. "It would be a really amazing experience just to get back and work with the same guys again.”
His new solo album Higher Truth is out now.
