Eykah Badu has dropped another new song from her apple tree, ‘Phone Down’. The title and theme of the track is pretty appropriate considering her recent remix of Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’, with the bag lady urging her man to put his phone down over a sweet as honey instrumental. Listen below.
The Verge were up in the early hours to report Erykah Badu's release of 'Phone Down', the newest rack taken from her upcoming mixtape But U Caint Use My Phone, the singer's first release since 2010's New Amerykah Part Two.
Badu took to Twitter to report that she'd be live streaming the video for the new track through Periscope, also releasing another video on the app that introduced some of the people in the 'Phone Down' video and announcing the 9 November drop of the track.

Erykah spoke with The Fader and gave an update on But U Caint Use My Phone, with the singer speaking about her relationship with Drake and being inspired by him for the musical direction of this hotly anticipated release.
"We're very good friends. He's just super busy right now. That's my brother, he's like a little brother to me. I went to Canada and hung out in the studio with him, while he made Take Care. We're very good friends and we had some great talks. He's an inspiration to me. Sonically he's in a place where I want to be. It's halfway between where I was and halfway to where I am now. If I want to come out and do something, I will try and raise myself to his bar or channel myself to his frequency."
Badu has previously said that the mixtape will be releasing during Thanksgiving weekend. Keep your ears and eyes peeled, people.
