John Lennon, who would have turned 75 in October, is still regarded as a music legend. To celebrate his birthday some of the biggest names in music took to Madison Square Garden to commemorate the ‘Give Peace A Chance’ icon.

The evening was hosted by Footloose star, Kevin Bacon and consisted of tributes to Lennon in the form of Beatles covers as well as songs from Lennon’s solo repertoire.

The lineup for the event included Brandon Flowers, Sheryl Crow, Spoon, Aloe Blacc, Peter Frampton, JUANES, Kris Kristofferson, Pat Monahan of Train, Tom Morello, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Steven Tyler, and John Fogerty.

Spoon performed Yellow Submarine’s ‘Hey Bull Dog’, whilst the Killers’ Brandon Flowers performed ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ with the help of country star Sheryl Crow.

The all-star cast came together for a climatic finale to perform ‘All You Need Is Love’, which Bacon described as “the simplest and most profound message”.
