Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O'Connor has returned to Facebook following her recent suicide post. The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' artist's page, which was decactivated last Sunday (25 November) after posting a suicide note, has now been reinstated.

The note, which was written on 29 November, was one of several suicidal posts which have now been deleted from the singer's social page. Following her recent hysterectamy, O'Connor has faced many issues in the past few months, including accusing a man of threatening to assault her on Facebook, and facing legal issues concerning the custody of two of her children.

After receiving medical assistance and being released from hospital, O'Connor's post from Friday 4 December stated a more positive message, and included a link to her song 'Troy': "I will rise, and I will return; the Phoenix from the flame. I have learned."

Within a later update on her page, O'Connor changed her profile picture with a message: "Beneath every strong independent woman lies a broken little girl who had to learn how to get back up & to never depend on anyone else."

She further stated her appreciation for the support from fans , and yesterday (5 December) posted a link on the social network to her track 'Thank You For Hearing Me', saying: "This is for all you incredibly lovely people who have been so supportive and have sent such encouraging messages."

After hearing about O'Connor's hospital admission, close friend and Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof who spoke on Ireland's radio station Radio Nova, said: "I didn't know about it but she's a great friend and one of the great Irish artists."

"She's just a great, great spirit and sometimes that's exhausting. I'm sorry to hear [the news] but she'll come out of it. She'll be back."
