After David Bowie died over the weekend aged 69, it's become clear that these photos - released by his official website on his 69th birthday - are probably the last public shots of him alive.
News of Bowie's death, after an 18-month battle with cancer, shook the world yesterday - not least because he had kept his illness a secret, and died just two days after releasing new album Blackstar on his 69th birthday.
And on his birthday, which took place on 8 January, Bowie's official website released new photos of the singer taken by Jimmy King. He's seen looking noticeably thin, but in beautifully high spirits. It now looks as though these are the last professional shots of Bowie that will ever be taken.
