The 1975 frontman Matt Healy has responded to his 'flirtation' with Taylor Swift, suggesting that dating her would have been 'demasculinating'.
Healy squared up to the possibility of being in Calvin Harris' place as having the 'Shake It Off' sensation as a girlfriend in an interview with Q, after the pair were reported to have been dating a couple of years ago.
"I don't do anything else, right, so it doesn't leave a lot of room for me going out, or shagging someone," he said of his career. "So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl it ends up going everywhere.... I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, 'Who's Matt Healy?' so that was cool."
He continued: "But I didn't make a big deal out of it myself," Healy continued. "It's not really anything to talk about, because if she wasn't Taylor Swift we wouldn't be talking about her. She wasn't a big impact on my life. It's just interesting to me how interested the world is about Taylor Swift."
When asked about his fear of losing identity in a relationship, Healy replied: "Yeah. Absolutely. And the reason I mention that is because if I had gone out with Taylor Swift I would've been, 'Fucking hell! I am NOT being Taylor Swift's boyfriend.' You know, 'FUCK. THAT.' That's also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing."
This comes after Healy questioned if Swift's squad was really 'genuine'.
The 1975's stunning latest album has swept the globe, taking the No.1 spot in five countries - and even breaking records in the US due to its insanely long name.
