Arcade Fire have paid tribute to their friend, supporter and collaborator, David Bowie. Read it it in full below.

The world has been in mourning following Bowie's death this week, after losing his battle with cancer

Now, Arcade Fire are the latest to honour the late, great Thin White Duke. The band have been friends with Bowie since their early days when he spoke out to champion them, later taking to the stage with them at a now iconic Fashion Rocks performane, and adding guest vocals to the title track from 2013's Reflektor.

"David Bowie was one of the band's earliest supporters and champions," wrote the band on Facebook. "He not only created the world that made it possible for our band to exist, he welcomed us into it with grace and warmth. We will take to the grave the moments we shared; talking, playing music and collaborating as some of the most profound and memorable moments of our lives.

"A true artist even in his passing, the world is more bright and mysterious because of him, and we will continue to shout prayers into the atmosphere he created."

Meanwhile, friends and collaborators Placebo have also paid tribute to Bowie, as has Queen's Brian May, producer Tony Visconti, as well as the likes of Foo Fighters, Iggy Pop, Kanye West, Brian Eno and many more
