Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner has spoken out about his infamous speech at the 2014 BRIT Awards, responding to claims that he was 'waffling away on drugs'.
Turner, who is currently on tour with Miles Kane to promote The Last Shadow Puppets' new album Everything You've Come To Expect, made headlines with his 'that rock n' roll speech, eh?' speech - when he picked up the award for Best Album for AM.
"A lot of people thought I was waffling away on drugs, but I wasn't." Turner told Rolling Stone. "I just can't pretend getting an award was something I've dreamed about since I was a kid, because it isn't."
Elaborating on Turner's general attitude and the BRITs, bandmate Kane added: "He enjoys being a star more and taking it for what it is. He's more comfortable in his own skin."
During his unexpectedly colourful speech, Turner said: "That rock and roll,eh? That rock and roll, it just won't go away. It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists, demands it adheres to some of its rules.
"But it's always waiting there, just around the corner, ready to make its way back through the sludge and smash through the glass ceiling, looking better than ever."
