Deftones have had to cancel a gig in Germany after frontman Chino Moreno broke his foot after he fell off the stage during a concert.

The metal band were performing at Belgium’s Groezrock festival when the incident occurred. The band were just a few minutes into the gig when the accident happened but Moreno played on until the end of the band’s set.

Consequently, the band have had to cancel a gig in Cologne, Germany but have re-assured their fans that their upcoming British gigs in London, Manchester and Glasgow will go ahead as planned.

A statement on Deftones’ Facebook page reads: “Hey Koln - Regretfully, we have to cancel our show tonight due to Chino breaking the top of his foot. He needs to stay off it for the next day or two. No other shows as of now are in jeopardy of being cancelled. We hope to make it back soon to perform for you again. In the meantime, all tickets will be refunded. Thanks for your understanding. Deftones.”

The next couple of gigs by the band is a two-night stand in Paris at L’Olympia. Well, maybe not a “stand” but perhaps a “hobble”. The UK dates then kick off at London’s Alexandra Palace on Friday (May 5) before heading to Manchester’s O2 Apollo the following day (May 6) and winding up at the SECC in Glasgow on Sunday (May 7).

Sorry – did we say “kick off”? It seems unlikely that Chino will be kicking anything for a while. Except perhaps himself but only when his foot gets better.

Get well soon, fella!
