The woman who was drop-kicked off-stage by the frontman of The Story So Far has spoken out publicly to insist that it was “all in good fun.”

As previously reported, the pop-punk band were playing a show in Toronto over the weekend when a fan got on stage to take a selfie on her phone. The band’s lead singer, Parker Cannon, proceeded to jump in the air and forcefully kick her from behind, launching her back into the crowd.

This isn't the first time he's done this, but it has been met with a mixed response online. YouTube user Matchek Broski commented, "That's what you get for taking a selfie," while Danny Gardner added: "I used to love this music scene but shit like this has no place, wanker."

In a piece for Noisey, Emma Garland wrote, "If you use your platform to assault your fans – many of whom are teenage girls – then not only is it an awful thing to do, it's also going to perpetuate an already rife culture of misogyny in the first place.”

Now though, Becca Ilic, who says that she’s the woman in question, has spoken out in defence of Cannon. "I was drunk and my phone wasn’t working properly to load the app, so I stood up there longer than I had anticipated,” she told Alt Press. "As expected at all hardcore shows, Parker was going with the flow and just hyping up the crowd so he kicked me offstage.”

She continued, "It was all in good fun in my opinion, and it wasn’t even a hard kick, just like a push or nudge. I know that I shouldn’t have been up there for that long of time - especially with my phone - but I’m not hurt, and I don’t have any malicious feelings toward the band whatsoever.”

The Story So Far, meanwhile, are yet to comment on the incident.
