Last night (13 April), Red Hot Chilli Peppers' bass player, Flea, played America's national anthem The Star-Spangled Banner as a bass solo. Check it out below.

The infamous bass guitarist made the appearance to celebrate Basketball player, Kobe Bryant's last game for the LA Lakers. He took to centre court just before the game played, performing, 'Star-Spangled Banner' in front of 18,000 people at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Kanye West was also in attendance, sporting a t-shirt in the same style as his Life Of Pablo album artwork. The rapper's top simply said, "I Feel Like Kobe", and you can see that in his tweet below.

Flea is known for being a huge fan of the LA Lakers, claiming that Kobe Bryant was similar to "John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page", as masters of their trade.

Flea has recently said that Red Hot Chilli Peppers are heading into a new era as they are recording their latest album.

The band recently revealed that they are mixing their new record with Radiohead producer, Nigel Godrich

The band have also recently announced a string of tour dates as well as headline slots at Reading and Leeds, T in the Park and Lollapalooza.
