Mysterious new artist KUB has revealed his powerful new single, ‘Paws’. Listen to it on Gigwise first below.

Though there’s a connection to be drawn between KUB - who has never done an interview, or even revealed his full name - and the likes of Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits, he draws as much from the grime scene that surrounded his neighbourhood growing up as he does from those folk-rock greats. These influences had an effect on his approach to writing, as well as his outlook on the social narratives expressed in his music.

“What if I’m wrong? What if you’re right?” KUB despairs in the refrain of ‘Paws’, his gravelly vocals curling somewhere between anger and determination. It’s snarling, powerful and somewhat unsettling.

If you want to find out more about KUB… you’re out of luck. But he does have a Facebook account, which you can visit here.
