Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has said that he would consider leaving the US if potential presidential candidate Donald Trump came to power.
The metal band drummer aged 52 has been a been living in America since 1980 yet he still holds Danish citizenship and he has said he may go back there if Trump become President.
The Drummer has been reported as stating his status as an 100% Danish citizen who pays taxes in the United States, resides there and yet cannot vote in the country he lives in.
Ulrich has said to have thought about returning to his native Denmark.
Lars is perhaps the most outspoken of the heavy metal legends number. His bandmate and Metallica founder member James Hetfield has been talking to the BBC and there he said ‘We (as a band) stay away from weighty subjects such as politics and religion, it just seems to polarlise people even more.’.
‘We all have our beliefs, but we are trying to connect to people through music and not political views ‘. Said Hetfield.
Metallica were formed in 1981 when the young Ulrich posted a newspaper advertisement and an equally young Hetfield responded. The band have went from strength to strength since then.
In the height of heavy metal (which many say still exists) Metallica were a part of the 'Big Four', alongside Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax they pretty much dominated the scene. That scene is now as healthy as ever.
The band have sold millions of albums, broke arena records and also pushed the boundaries musically when they feel like it.
‘Hardwired’ by Metallica is due for release in November 2016 and features the track ‘Murder One’ which is a tribute to the late singer and bassist of Motorhead fame Lemmy.
