Iron Maiden are the masters of PR and producing merchandise, so it should have come no surprise that the band like many others have gone down the route of producing and promoting their own brand of beer or ale.
Maiden have spent a good few years plugging their ‘Trooper’ brand of ale/beer and its empty bottles will adorn many homes thanks to the ‘Eddie’ (the bands logo) label.
Dickinson has been in the news recently for his enthusiasm for flying planes (he flies the Maiden crew on tour) and his love of airships and anything that flies, to be honest. A recent crash by the world’s biggest airship will not hamper him.
Just this last week he was in Wales to not only see how the band’s latest ale ‘Trooper Red ‘N’ Black’ went down with the punters, but he also had another agenda.
He was in Cardiff to see his son Griff and his band the Shvpes play and decided to head to a local bar for a pre-gig tipple. The owner of the bar had met Bruce in Barcelona at a gig and mentioned his bar the Fuel Rock Club.
Owner Rob Toogood said ‘I met him backstage and he said if I ever had the new beer in to let him know. He promised to pull a few pints for us’.
"I noticed his sons band were playing across the road, but never thought he would turn up," se said.
According to reports Bruce not only pulled pints, but mingled with the punters, chatted, posed for pictures and enjoyed himself. Imagine a rock legend like Bruce Dickinson serving your pint, it must be very odd to take in?
Dickinson did of course go to see his sons band play, but made a Welsh bar's local patrons night too.
Iron Maiden are currently hyping up their extremely well-received ‘Book Of Souls’ album and its subsequent 2017 UK tour.
