Rought Trade's new signees Goat Girl have released the strobe heavy new video to 'Country Sleaze' directed by Douglas Hart, who's one of the founding members of The Jesus And Mary Chain. You can watch it on Gigwise below.

This comes on the back of their debut single 'Scum' released earlier this month. Both have been recorded by fast-rising producer Margo Broom (Phobophobes, Catholic Action) in a North London studio.

The band cut their teeth down at Brixton Windmill, The Montague Arms in Peckham and other small venues. They've been constantly playing live around the capital, causing a bit of a stir among close followers its underground live music scene.

But they remained a bit of an enigma online, leaving leaving little, if anything, for anyone to see, meaning people believing the gospel of the passionate word of mouth testimony's by those who'd seen them, had to go down in person to a venue to hear the band for the first time. Like in the days before MySpace etc.

Now they have got a couple of recordings out, it's a grand introduction and will ultimately foster more and more love for this fast rising four piece who took their name from a classic Bill Hicks sketch.

Meanwhile, Goat Girl interviewed their video director Douglas Hart about the film above. Check it out below.

GG: Your video style is very unique - how did it come about?

Douglas Hart: In film, as well in music, it's the things that first enthral you in your early teens that serve as an inspiration throughout your life. So for me it was seeing bootleg videos of “A Clockwork Orange" and Sex Pistols’ 1978 tour of the USA when I was around 14 or 15 years old. Both tapes were 4th or 5th generation copies, so the colours were heightened and distorted as if in a dream. I think I've been trying to capture something of that look and atmosphere ever since.

GG: Did you enjoy the day we spent making Country Sleaze video? Or did it feel like routine?

DH: Yes, I enjoyed the shoot… It was more like a discotheque than a video shoot.

GG: Do you miss being in a band? If not, what are the reasons?

DD: Yes, I do sometimes miss being in a band. It's something pretty special to travel the world playing music with your friends at such young age… It was the escape route I used dream about when I was miserable in my home town… and the dream came true. Very little else in life can be quite as exciting and intense. But, what I do now, especially on a shoot, comes pretty close.

GG: Do you have any advice for a new band?

DD: To paraphrase Samuel Beckett "Dance first.Think later. It's the natural order.”
