Paul Weller is releasing his 13th studio album, A Kind Revolution, a massive 40 years after he first broke into the industry with his debut record which was The Jam's In The City.
In the build up to the 12 May release Weller has put together the below lyric video for 'Long Long Road', heping you croon along to the timeless ballad.
The track initially made its way into the public domain last week along with 'Nova', also taken from the forthcoming album. 'Nova' is a much harder rocking cut than 'Long Long Road' with nods to Bowie's Blackstar in places as well as more straightforward swaggering rock 'n roll styles.
Having two different moods released at the same time implies how much of an ambitious, dynamic album he has coming.
This is echoed in the press release: "A Kind Revolution features ten absolute classic modern Paul Weller songs. By “modern Paul Weller songs” we mean, instantly recognisable but in no way predictable. He doesn’t make a “kind of” album, he fits together all his influences - rock, R&B, soul, jazz, funk, folk…whatever - and builds a song from them, delivering something that drifts through genres unselfconsciously and at ease
Elsewhere, Paul Weller recently played at Union Chapel with Richard Hawley. His set acoustic set was described by Gigwise as "peppered with moments of grit turned gorgeous. With the highlight of the night "his cover of Lennon’s stark and stunning ‘Love’ and a take on ‘Wild Wood’ where you can virtually feel the brambles scratch at your calves."
