The Shins are reviving their Portland proudness this year thanks to the unveiling of their new album Heartworms'

Their new single, 'Name For You', taken from the forthcoming album is the first since their Halloween teaser ‘Dead Alive’, which also features on new album Heartworms.

Having not released an album since 2012’s Port Of Morrow, The Shins have been teasing new music since, having even performed new material at festivals last summer.

Explained as “a resounding call for female empowerment inspired by Mercer’s three daughters”,'Name For You’ is one of many tracks to feature on “Heartworms”, which is solely written by frontman James Mercer, aside from “So Now What”, which was produced by Richard Swift.

In an online Reddit interview last year, Mercer stated, “We had a good time making it. It was a lot of hard work, but I think we’ve got something that Shins fans will really love and I think there’s some other things on there that are just different enough.”

The track list is as follows:

1. Name For You
2. Painting A Hole
3. Cherry Hearts
4. Fantasy Island
5. Mildenhall
6. Rubber Ballz
7. Half A Million
8. Dead Alive
9. Heart worms
10. So Now What
11. The Fear

As well as teasing new albums and singles, The Shins are embarking on a world tour. They perform at London’s Eventim Apollo on Wednesday 29 March. Check here for ticket information.
