Beyonce’s legions of fans (well, those with Coachella tickets) have been left disappointed after it was announced that she has been advised by her medical team to pull out of her headlining slot at the Coachella music festival this April. The Lemonade star is pregnant with twins. On the plus side, she’s been confirmed to headline the festival in 2018 instead.

Beyonce had been scheduled to headline the Saturday of the 18th annual festival, which is held over two weekends at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on April 14-16 and April 21-23. Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar are the other two headliners. Her doctors have advised that she needs to “keep a less rigorous schedule.”

A statement to the Associated Press from Beyonce’s management team, Parkwood Entertainment, and festival producers Goldenvoice reads:

“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival."

It continues: "However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding."

The Coachella team is so far remaining tight-lipped as to who will be her replacement. It’s doubtless a blow, not least as Beyonce would have been the festival’s first female headliner since Bjork topped the bill in 2007.

The erstwhile Destiny’s Child singer was confirmed as one of the headliners in January. She announced her pregnancy with twins a month later when she said: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes – The Carters.”

Earlier this month, Beyonce performed at the Grammy’s where she scooped the awards for Best Music Video (‘Formation’) and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade.

Other artists performing at this year’s Coachella include Father John Misty, Lorde and The xx.
