Good news for fans of The Who as the mod rockers have just unveiled the staggeringly long tracklist for a new 5-cd set called Maximum As & Bs. It is set to be released on 27 October on cd only; there is no vinyl alternative.

As well as the obvious hits, the band's last recorded track to date, 'Be Lucky' and the group's first single as the High Numbers - 'Zoot Suit' b/w 'I'm The Face' is on there alongside rarely heard b-sides and EP tracks.

The press release doesn't mention anything in terms of a remastering, this is simply a reissue and includes 86 tracks from the Brunswick, Reaction, Track and Polydor labels.

In addition to the cd's which come in a rigid lift off style case - perfect for throwing in your glove compartment - there's a 48-page booklet, with track-by-track annotation by acclaimed Who writers with period photos & memorabilia. The package sounds like a must for any serious fan of Roger Daltrey and co.

Meanwhile, Pete Townsend's Scoop, Another Scoop & Scoop 3 double cd set has been remastered 'at half speed' at Annery Road and is set for release on 18 August. It is on wax, pressed on pink (Scoop), yellow (Another Scoop) and light blue (Scoop 3) vinyl.

These albums give a unique insight into Townshend’s creative process and feature early versions of future Who classics including Eminence Front, The Real Me, Long Live Rock, The Magic Bus as well as many other Who hits.

As if that wasn't enough, coming exclusively on vinyl on 27 October is the first ever Who singles collection Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy and Live at Leeds - one of the best live rock album's ever - up there alonsdie Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous.

Both albums have been cut at Abbey Road with half-speed mastering process and will be released on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl.
